Prepare the ingredients.
Defrost the puff pastry, place it on a lightly floured table and roll it out in a square shape. Cut the dough in the middle horizontally, and then vertically – into strips of such width that they turn out a little narrower than the sausages you bought. So, during the baking process, the ends of the sausages will be slightly browned and will look out appetitive from under the crispy ” blanket” of puff pastry.
Each strip of dough is smeared with mustard, retreating from the edge. At the base of each strip, lay the sausage, and roll the dough into a roll. Place the blanks on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
The ends of the dough strips should be at the bottom, so that the dough does not unfold when baking. If the kitchen is hot, and the dough has become soft and does not hold its shape by this time, place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes, so that it cools and hardens again.
Separate the egg yolk from the white and stir it lightly with a fork. We won’t need protein. Smear the surface of the dough with yolk. If desired, decorate each piece with a pinch of sesame seeds or poppy seeds.
Place the baking sheet in a preheated 356F (180C) degree oven for 13-15 minutes, until the “pigs in a blanket” get a delicious golden color. “Pigs in a blanket” is ready! It is best to serve the appetizer to the table hot, because in this case, the beauty and multi-layered puff pastry will fully manifest itself. Enjoy your meal!
