Defrost the squid (if necessary), clean and wash it. Dry the carcasses and make longitudinal notches on both sides with a very sharp knife without cutting through the carcass.
Cut the tomatoes into cubes and finely chop the garlic. Mix tomatoes, mashed tomatoes, garlic, salt, pepper, and herbs in a bowl, and pour in olive oil. Put the squid in the resulting mixture, cover them inside and out, and leave for 15 minutes.
